Open House honoring those 80 and Better
For the past twenty-nine years, this community has honored those who have reached the age of 80 and better. Sunday, May 7, 2-4pm, at the American Legion we will be honoring them again. This open house is for all adults of the community who would like to spend an afternoon meeting and greeting the older members of the community. Laughter and memories make the afternoon one to remember. The event is sponsored by the American Legion Post #300, the Legion Auxiliary, the Senior Council and the West Chicago Park District. Dog Park Pass Renewal
Itís time to purchase and or renew your dogís pass to the West Chicago Park District Dog Park. Itís located in Reed-Keppler Park near the Dyer Nature Sanctuary. Dogs must be permitted through the West Chicago Park District office. The fee is $35 for resident dogs and $70 for non-resident dogs. Each additional dog is $20 resident and $40 non-resident. There is a maximum of three dogs per handler. Handlers that are renewing their permit need to bring in updated proof of vaccination. Each dog will receive a collar tag. New members must bring in their dog for the picture ID. Pictures will be taken at the park district office. Handlers must present a rabies certificate when purchasing the permit.
The Dog Park will be open seven days a week sunrise to sunset except for Mondays when it will open at 10am. For more information contact the park district office, 231-9474 or check the web site www.we-goparks.org.

Season Pass Holder Appreciation Night
To show how much we appreciate all of our season pass holders and their dedication to the Prairie Oaks Family Aquatic Center we will open the pool for a special night just for season pass holders on Friday, June 2 from 6:30-8:30pm. There will be no general public admission or guest passes admitted at this time.
Saint Peter and the Vatican: The Legacy of the Pope
The West Chicago is headed to the Milwaukee Public Museum to see this extraordinary exhibit. We will have the opportunity to explore the Vaticanís collections of art and historical objects, many never publicly displayed. Trace 2,000 years of church leadership from Saint Peter to Pope John Paul II in this wonderful exhibit. The trip leaves on Friday, April 28th at 8:00am and will return at 6:00pm. The fee is $39R/$46NR/$35VIP. The fee includes museum admission, exhibit admission, transportation and escort. Lunch will be on your own at the museum. You must register by May 1st. Join the West Chicago Park District for an afternoon in Greendale, Wisconsin at the Reiman Publications. Reiman Publications is well known for the country-oriented magazines and books that let you enjoy the fine flavors and beautiful scenery of rural America. In addition to magazines, they publish a mail-order catalog offering a wide variety of country-oriented products, calendars and best-selling books including cookbooks, photo books, nostalgia books and more. We will have lunch at the Heinemennís Taste of Home Restaurant. Lunch will include garden salad, rolls/butter, Beef Burgundy, fruit cobbler with vanilla ice cream, coffee, tea or lemonade. We will tour the facility prior to lunch. After lunch we will have about an hour or so to tour the town and itsí quaint shops. The fee is $48R/$54NR/$44VIP and includes tour, motor coach transportation, lunch and escorts. The trip goes out on May 26th at 8:00am and returns at 5:00pm. You must register by May 1st. History of Lincoln Tour Ė Springfield, IL
The West Chicago Park District is headed to Springfield, IL via motor coach for a day filled with history. We begin our day with a tour of the Lincoln Home and then the Old State Capitol followed by lunch at Old Country Buffet. After lunch we will tour the Executive Mansion and then the Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum. We will stop for dinner on the way home which will be on your own. The fee is $61R/$73NR/$55VIP and includes motor coach transportation, escorts, snacks and drinks, lunch and tour fees. The trip takes place on Friday, June 30 from 7:00am to 10:00pm.
