Approval of Minutes
The Board of Education approved the minutes of the regular board meetings of May 19, 2005 (3rd Thursday), and June 9, 2005 (2nd Thursday).
The Board approved the following current expenditures:
list of bills dated May 20, to June 16, 2005 in the amount of $1,578,035.54
regular payroll of May 31, 2005 in the amount of $915,551.17; teachers and 10-month staff payroll of June 1, 2005 in the amount of $804,839.74; and administrators and 12-month staff payroll of June 15, 2005 in the amount of $95,063.39
imprest list dated May 11, to June 6, 2005 in the amount of $321.62
The Board of Education reviewed the Treasurer's Report, Statement of Position, and Budget Report as of June 16, 2005.
Mr. Rich Kassanits addressed the Board of Education regarding the changes and presented options for the Middle School technology class.
The Board of Education reviewed the following informational items:
most current posting of available job positions in School District #33
report of employees on a short term maternity leave
May/June, 2005 student attendance report, reflecting special education out-of-district figures, noting the District's percent of attendance to be at 95.97%
school suspension report for May/June 2005, indicating 39 out-of-school, 8 in-school, and 1 bus suspension
freedom of information report, noting that there were three new requests since the last board meeting
special education out-of-district placements, indicating no new students since the last board meeting
a template provided by Katrine Maguire to help committees and other working groups in making recommendations to the Board of Education. This document can adequately guide committees in keeping the Board updated on their work, and what to include in their recommendations at the conclusion of their work. Board members discussed this document and made some revisions.
the possibility of re-employing reading assistants
received classified staff changes from May 14, to June 14, 2005
The Board of Education took action on the following:
re-employed Jenifer Corey as a math teacher at the Middle School, and Dana Catenacci as a 1st grade teacher at Turner School for the 2005-2006 school year
employed Margaret Mornar as a gifted differentiation teacher at Turner School, Lisa Jirovec as a 1st grade bilingual teacher at Turner School, Jacquelyn Lundeen as a facilitating teacher at Turner School, Lillian Figueroa as a bilingual kindergarten teacher at Turner and Wegner Schools, and Lauren Lannert as a facilitating teacher at the Middle School, for the 2005-2006 school year
Authorize disposal of unneeded equipment
The Board of Education authorized the disposal of unneeded equipment that is either inoperable or too costly to repair.
Board vacancy timeline and process
The Board Members set a timeline for filling the vacancy on the Board, as a result of Sharon Jones' resignation on June 9, 2005. The Board has 45 days to fill this vacancy.
Report of District Committee Meetings
The Board received a report on the Legislative Committee.
Review of Upcoming Meetings/Events
The Board of Education members reviewed upcoming meetings and events.
The Board of Education went into closed session to discuss the superintendent's evaluation.
The next Regular Board Meeting is scheduled for the third Thursday of the month, July 21, 2005, beginning at 7:00 p.m.
