PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE DISTRIBUTION
Registration has begun for Summer Reading 2005!
This year's theme is "Read a Good Yarn!"
Come visit the West Chicago Public Library to register for our annual Summer Reading Program! Open to Adults age 19 and over and Leader Readers (readers over 13 who read to someone else).
The first 100 people to register will receive a crocheted book mark, hand made by the Hook and Needle group, and made possible by a donation from the Friends of the Library.
Once registered participants are eligible to participate in "The Quilt of Many Titles" contest wherein titles of famous or classic literature are scrambled. Participants decipher the title to enter the weekly drawing. Prizes awarded include a copy of either At Knit's End; Meditations for Women Who Knit too Much or A Murderous Yarn.
For every 6 books a participant reads, they will be entered in the grand prize drawing for one of two $25.00 gift certificates for Hobby Lobby, donated by the Friends of the Library.
Two Drawings will take place, one for the Adult Category and the other for the leader reader category.
At the end of the summer the top readers in both categories will be awarded prizes generously donated by Bowling Green Sports Center 30w150 Roosevelt Rd. in West Chicago. Top adult reader will receive a certificate for a "Party Package" good for 1 free volleyball party (3 sand volleyball courts) and party deck use for up to 3 hours! A $225 dollar value! Top leader reader will receive a "Party Package" good for 1 free party for up to 8 people, including 8 games of bowling, including shoe rental. A $48 dollar value!
The Adult services manager has promised that if 200+ participants register, she will kiss a sheep on the lips. (This event will be documented for posterity.) Currently there are 74 registered participants. Come support your local library and Read a Good Yarn!
