New Development Plan for Foxfield

Once again, the developer who owns the 30.53 acres of land just to the west of the Cornerstone Lakes neighborhood, between Smith Road and Foxfield, will be presenting his latest development plans to the City of St. Charles in the next few weeks. This new proposal includes:

This development will bring 339 condo/ town homes units to the already crowded area of Smith Road and North Avenue. This development will also have an impact on the school system due to its concentrated population density.

This land is zoned for commercial use and office park use. If the City of St. Charles accepts this proposal, they will have to hold a public hearing to change the zoning from ORI (Office/Research/Industrial) to Residential. If St. Charles wishes to change this land into a residential development, I, personally, would prefer to see a neighborhood similar to our own or the single-family Kingswood neighborhood in St. Charles.

I will be keeping a close eye on this development and will let you know the progress. If anyone wishes to see the plans, drop me a line or give me a call, and you can come visit me, or I will come to you.

I may need people to attend the June 13th St. Charles Development Committee meeting. I will let you know if I need your help voicing our opposition.

Traffic, revisited

With Summer Break upon us, please watch your speed and be very attentive as you drive through the neighborhoods. We have many, many young children amongst us running in yards, riding bikes and playing nearby. Some of our neighborhoods have an inordinate amount of traffic, and we can do our part to keep our children safe by driving diligently ourselves.

Touch A Truck

Have you or your youngster ever wondered what it would be like to sit in a fire truck, a police car, a cement mixer or a dump truck? The West Chicago Police Department and West Chicago Park District have teamed up to give you this opportunity.

On Saturday June 4 from 9 am to 11 am you can come out and Touch A Truck! This program will be in the Prairie Oaks Family Aquatic Center’s parking lot 129 W. National Street. The Prairie Oaks Famliy Aquatic Center is located in Reed-Keppler Park.

I can assure you that the kids will LOVE it!

Parkway Trees

I am sure that everyone who lives in the Cornerstone Lakes neighborhood noticed the parkway trees in the Town and Country section being replaced, including some in the public areas. Please give the new trees a drink of water periodically to ensure their survival.

I am still working on getting the custom homes on the east side of the neighborhood new parkway trees for the fall. Please be advised that the developer is still responsible for replacing the dead/diseased trees. As I said in earlier e-mails, we still hold letters of credit from each developer and we will not release these letters until all of the trees have been replaced. I am a very patient person, but understand and share your frustration, as well. Please keep the addresses coming.

Highest Honor

A committee has been formed to draw up plans for a suitable memorial for the five DuPage County servicemen killed in action in Iraq and Afghanistan. An individual cross for each serviceman with an appropriate inscription will be placed at the DuPage County Veteran’s Memorial on Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2005.

The DuPage County Fallen Serviceman Fund is looking for donations to help cover the cost for the five white and steel crosses. I was asked for a $5.00 donation to help cover the cost for the crosses. If anyone is interested in contributing $5.00 to the DuPage County Fallen Serviceman Fund, please send the funds to:

Thank you in advance for your generosity.

As always, if you ever have something community-related you would like me to send along to all of our neighbors, please let me know. Also, do not forget my offer to talk about anything, anytime. Call, write, or stop by.
