Education Partners, good afternoon:
Much more news coming in the next two days, but this will get us started:
- Two St. Charles East and two St. Charles North high schools students won
the award for best design in the national DaimlerChrysler Build Your Dream
Vehicle contest. Congratulations to them and their teacher Ron Brown at St.
Charles North. Click here for more:
- Congratulations as well to St. Charles East High School senior Hannah
Newfield-Plunkett for being named to the Daily Herald newspaper's 2005
Academic Team. She was one of 10 students chosen, from a pool of 107 seniors
nominated by 76 public and private high schools in the Chicago suburbs.
Additional kudos to St. Charles North's Tyler Mahaffey and Laura Eileen
Quock, and St. Charles East's Julie Valentyn, who
received Honorable Mention.
- And, congratulations to St. Charles East High junior Joe Trefilek, for
winning a statewide I&M Canal Award from the Canal Corridor Association, for
his exhibit titled "One of the Greatest Artificial Waterways Ever." The
exhibit was shown at the Illinois History Expo in Springfield.
***TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES PREVENTED SENDING THIS ITEM YESTERDAY...
- Davis Elementary School Principal Sally Thomson has been recommended to
fill the district's K-12 Coordinator of Gifted Student Services position.
This post - a redefinition/combination of two similar existing jobs -- is
part of Dr. Erwin's plan to restructure District 303's administration to
support efforts to improve individual student achievement and personal
growth -- one of five major goals included in the community's new Vision
Statement for District 303, created last fall.
The Board of Education is expected to act on this recommendation at its June
13, 2005 regular meeting. More details will follow as we get closer to the
June 13, 2005 Board meeting.
Have a good evening,
