CHS Students Take Top Honors at State SkillsUSA Competition
Students from Community High School took top honors at the Illinois State SkillsUSA competition recently. The award recipients included: Interior Room Design: 1st place - Jenna Bodie, 2nd place - Deborah Sosnowski; Java Programming: 3rd place - Ryan Pinto; Job Skills Demo A: 2nd Place - Danielle Pappas; Machine Drafting: 1st place - Dale Szul; Related Technical Math: 3rd place - Jeff Cisowski; Technical Speaking: 2nd place - Rose Venen; 3D Visualization Animation: 2nd place team: Shawn Przybyla and Mike Liddicoatt; Essay: 1st place - Dale Szul, Extemporaneous Speaking: 1st place: Jenna Bodie; Community Service: 2nd Place team - Yesenia Sanchez, Travis Marcrum and Kristin Klouda; Commercial Sewing: 1st place - Elizabeth Goudin, 3rd place - Stephany Vasquez; Action Skills Demonstration: 3rd place - Stephanie Hendron.
Jenna Bodie, Mike Liddicoatt, Shawn Przybyla, and Travis Marcrum will go on
to compete at the national SkillsUSA competition in Kansas City, MO in June.
Paul Junkroski and Patti Kozlowski are the SkillsUSA faculty advisors at
Community High School in West Chicago.
SkillsUSA is a national organization that serves high school and college
students enrolled in career and technical education. It provides quality
education experiences for students in leadership, teamwork, citizenship and
character development. It builds and reinforces self-confidence, work attitudes
and communications skills. It emphasizes total quality at work, high ethical
standards, superior work skills, life-long education and pride in the dignity of
work. SkillsUSA also promotes understanding of the free enterprise system and
involvement in community service activities.
