Dear Key Communicators,
Many of you have asked what you can do to help in regards to the school funding crisis in Illinois. Our legislators need to hear from the people who elect them. Besides making phone calls and writing letters to our legislators, you can also attend public hearings.
Several important legislative hearings on state budget issues are being held in the Chicago region soon, extending a significant opportunity for you to testify on behalf of children's need for state education funding and revenue reforms. The hearings are a part of Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan's series of statewide hearings intended to examine the effects of recent state budget cuts in vital services, as well as tax and fee increases on businesses. The public are invited to attend and speak at these events. Many A+Illinois supporters plan to testify in order to urge state officials to do right by Illinois children, families, and communities. Some upcoming hearings in our area include:
- DuPage County: February 22, 7 - 9 pm, Wheaton Park District (Community Center Memorial Room), 1777 S. Blanchard Road, Wheaton, IL
- Aurora: March 7, 6 - 9 pm, Prisco Center (Room 104), 150 W. Illinois, Aurora, IL
